Marriage is a union that comes with great joy but also requires effort from both people for it to remain healthy. While engaged couples are often advised by their married friends and loved ones on how to make the most of their marriage, there is no guidebook guiding newlyweds on keeping their marriage in good shape.

Florida lawmakers are looking to change this.

A new bill will create a healthy marriage guide sanctioned by the state. All soon to be couples would be required to have access to the guide before receiving their marriage license. This guide would complement the required marriage course that can be waived provided the couple waits a minimum of three days before getting married.

Should the bill pass all hurdles, the guide would address issues such as domestic violence, family expectations, and managing conflicts. Florida would join other states like Texas, Alabama, and Arizona that already have marriage guides available sanctioned by the state.
