Custody Sharing During the Holidays
With families that have gone through the pain of divorce, the holiday season can be a difficult one. There may still be feelings of resentment among the parents that may affect any family get-togethers. While it may seem like a good idea to simply avoid an uncomfortable situation by allowing the children to remain with a single parent, research published on Time Magazine shows children spending equal time with both parents had fewer health problems compared to those that did not.
Former spouses may wish to try and develop a mutually agreeable schedule detailing how a child will spend what remains of the holidays. This schedule should also take into account which parent the child will spend the first half of winter break with. If parents are unable to figure things out, the state may be forced to make a schedule for them.
